Please join us on Wrongful Conviction Day - Monday, October 2 from 1130a-1230p. The Innocence Project of Minnesota and Hamline University's Center for Justice and Law will host a forum on the “Monfils 6” case, highlighting the case and how to be a successful citizen advocate for the wrongfully convicted. The "Monfils 6" are six men convicted of first-degree murder in Green Bay. The case offers a deeply troubling example of how actually innocent individuals can be wrongly convicted of heinous crimes and the obstacles that the justice system poses to efforts to correct these miscarriages of justice. It also demonstrates how ordinary citizens, no less than members of the legal profession, can pursue justice for the wrongly convicted.

Presenters will include Steve Kaplan, attorney with Fredrikson & Byron, Joan Treppa, citizen advocate and author, and Julie Jonas, Legal Director of the Innocence Project of Minnesota. This panel discussion will be held at the Center for Justice and Law at Hamline University's West Hall Room 240 and will be moderated by Stephen Arnott, Associate Professor of Legal Studies at Hamline University.
