We are proud to announce Cory Session as our 2018 Benefit for Innocence keynote speaker! Cory is the board Vice-President of the Innocence Project of Texas, and its former Policy Director is a champion for the wrongfully convicted. His service to the cause of justice began after his brother, Timothy Cole, was wrongfully convicted and served 13 years of a 25-year sentence before he died of complications from asthma while in prison. Session, along with the Innocence Project of Texas, never gave up in his efforts to clear Cole’s name. His story is one of bittersweet triumph, with his advocacy resulting in the first and only posthumous pardon in Texas and significant legislative changes to prevent and remedy future injustices. Mr. Session continues to speak around the country to spreading awareness of wrongful convictions to help free the incarcerated innocent.

In addition to Cory Sessions, we will also have the privilege of listening to the profound story of Terry Olson. Terry Olson was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for a death that in all likelihood was an accident that did not involve Olson. Decades after the alleged crime, Olson was convicted as a result of the false and coerced confession and testimony of a man who later recanted his statements. IPMN Legal Director, Julie Jonas, volunteer attorney David Schultz from the Maslon firm, along with law student volunteers, secured Olson’s release from prison after he had served more than 10 years.

All Benefit proceeds support IPMN's efforts to free the wrongfully convicted.
